A Manchester restaurant has been devastated by a fire just days after opening following a £3m investment.
Panacea in Alderley Edge - a sister venue to Panacea on Manchester’s John Dalton Stree - launched last week on the former site of Brasingamens.
It has been destroyed by a blaze which broke out at around 5am this morning, according to reports. More than 30 fire fighters were called to the scene with Alderley Edge high street being closed off. It is unclear what caused the fire.
Bernard Carroll, the designer of Panacea told Manchester Confidential the site was completely ruined.
“There was a big fire on the first floor, which was totally destroyed,” he said. “The damage then spread down through the rest of the building. It's effectively all gone.”
Carroll added: “This is a bad blow, it's hard to find the right words to say, I'm so shocked. But we have to move on, I suppose.”
