Pakistani terrorists were also behind the attacks on Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel last year

A suicide bomber has crashed an explosives-laden vehicle into a hotel in a northwest Pakistan market, killing 25 people.

The hotel, which was hit today (18 September), is owned by a Shia, a police official confirmed.

The attack was the second in two days in Kohat, a town near the Afghan border with a history of violence between the Shia and Sunni Muslim sects.

Area mayor Syed Mehtabul Hassan told the Associated Press that 25 bodies were pulled out of the rubble of the hotel and nearby shops and that several other people were wounded.

The blast also destroyed several cars and shops at the Kacha Paka market, near where the hotel is located.

Kohat is around 40 miles south of Peshawar, Pakistan's main north-west city. Yesterday, six people were wounded when a bomb planted outside a shop in a separate area of Kohat exploded.
