Wilson Vale plants more than 300 trees as company grows

Niche staff caterer Wilson Vale has kept CSR at the root of its company growth by planting more than 300 trees.

When it reached its fifth anniversary in 2007, the caterer decided to plant new trees for every new business gain and company milestone, including its relocation to new offices near the new National Forest in Leicestershire a year later.

Since then the company's turnover has grown from £8m to £13m and 65 catering contracts, and more than 300 trees have been planted.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder and joint managing director of Wilson Vale, said: "The core elements of a strong CSR policy should be ingrained deeply at the heart of every well managed company.

"In essence, doing the right thing at every level not only creates a better working environment and a strong sense of wellbeing, it can also reduce costs and enhance your brand and profitability."

Last year Wilson Vale launched a CSR programme, called It's a Natural Choice, to clients, staff and suppliers, which outlines its work and progress in this area, such as the fact that 70% of food packaging used throughout its catering operations is now biodegradable.
