Babylon décor and food slated by critic

Richard Branson’s newly refurbished restaurant Babylon is “cheap-looking” and serves “deeply questionable quality [food]”, says Marina O’Loughlin.

The Metro’s food critic says the new interior at the west London restaurant “looks like it's been done on a Changing Rooms budget to resemble a Bromley branch of Oasis” and laments that the poor quality food “costs an arm and a leg”.

Meanwhile John McClements’ latest restaurant, Taste of McClements in Kew, south west London, is a “fine choice”, according to Time Out.

The magazine’s food critic, Charmaine Mok, says the restaurant, which serves a 19-course tasting menu only, provides a “first-class experience without the ponce” of other fine dining establishments.

The Evening Standard’s David Sexton reviews Canteen’s recently opened Baker Street branch and finds it all a bit underwhelming.
