Sodexo Foundation supports Prince's Trust hospitality training scheme

The Sodexo Foundation has donated £17,000 to support a hospitality training scheme delivered by The Prince's Trust.

The two-week learning and development programme for people under the age of 25 launched on Monday.

The Prince's Trust has invited 15 young people, who are currently unemployed to attend the 'Get Into' hospitality programme, which will be facilitated by Sodexo's learning and development team.

Rick Libbey, director of The Prince's Trust Cymru, said: "We run the 'Get Into' programme, in partnership with employers, to give young people who are work-ready a helping hand by giving them a mix of vocational skills, practical training and hands-on experience, then supporting them as they look for work."

Simon Conway, Sodexo Education account director, added: "We are delighted to provide this programme for The Prince's Trust, which is an excellent way to help the young and unemployed get into work. There are many opportunities in the hospitality industry so we hope that their experience at Deeside College will help them secure work in this area."

Week one is spent teaching the participants about food hygiene, health and safety, and customer care, while the second week offers them the opportunity to gain work experience working in various catering service areas at the College, which are all provided by Sodexo.

In addition, the team will also teach the importance of the Spirit of Inclusion, a programme created by Sodexo, which looks at diversity and inclusion from an individual, team and business perspective.

All successful participants will receive a certificate at the end of the programme, rewarding their commitment to learning and developing new skills. Parents and guardians will be invited to attend the buffet style ceremony where they will be able to taste food created and prepared by the participants.
