The Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) has appointed David Veal as its new executive director. His 28 years' experience in the coffee industry in the UK includes a stint as director of ACS Coffee Service and 17 years spent running his own speciality coffee wholesale business, Café Sienna.
The former chairman of the Beverage Standards Association of the UK, he has been a member of SCAE for seven years, has served as a UK Barista Championship judge and as a member of the UKBC committee. He succeeds retiring executive director Mick Wheeler, who has served since 2005.
