Chefs from the Michelin-starred Elephant Restaurant & Bar in Torquay took a gold medal and first prize in the British Culinary Federation’s Chef Team Challenge on Sunday.

Daniel Morris and Peter Geraghty emerged triumphant after the 75-minute cook-off, which required them to prepare, cook and present an amuse bouche and a two-course menu for two covers “suitable for a chefs’ luncheon club” and including a product from the Heinz range.

They received a complimentary meal for two at the Michelin-starred restaurant of the British Culinary Federation’s choice.

Runners up in the competition were: Christopher Graham and Sumeda Palihakkara of the Jumeirah Culinary Team (silver), Mathew Shropshall and Ryan Tomkin of Russums and Glenans & Viners (silver), and Mark Hadfield and Dean Crews of Shottle Hall Hotel, Belper (bronze).
