Oxford Brookes University has extended its long-running deal with Compass Group, in a two-year contract extension worth £9m in total turnover.
Compass has had a relationship with the university for almost a quarter of a century and last year signed a three year deal, which was due to run until 2011.
Following the extension, Compass’s Chartwells education brand will continue to provide catering and hospitality services to 22,000 students and staff across five campuses.
The relationship saw the caterer and university recognised with a Good Egg award last week, and also helped Oxford Brookes University become the first to be granted Fairtrade status in 2003.
The university is also the first to use the Marine Stewardship Council logo on its menus after Compass was certificated by the not-for-profit organisation last year.
Gillian Almond, deputy director of hospitality services at Oxford Brookes University, said: “As a university we are very proud of our sustainable agenda and in Chartwells we have found a partner to support this and push us forward.”
