Why business travellers prefer budget lodging, and the latest hospitality news in brief

Lodges preferred

One third of business travellers now opt for budget lodge-style accommodation, according to a survey of more than 2,000 people published last week by Forte Travelodge.

The survey, conducted by MORI, showed quality and service at a fair price was seen as more important than luxury items such as room service or satellite television.

Rouge goes green

Pelican Group, the restaurant chain which includes Café Rouge, Café Pelican and Mamma Amalfi, has become the 200th member of the Considerate Restaurateurs Association.

The scheme was set up last year as a partnership between Westminster City Council and restaurateurs in the borough, to encourage ways to improve and protect the environment in London.

Disney change?

Euro Disney, the troubled theme park near Paris, is reported to be considering changing its name to Paris Disney as it fights to stave off the threat of closure.

Young Chef/Waiter

THE closing date for the Young Chef Young Waiter Awards, organised  by the Restaurateurs Association of Great Britain (RAGB), is 17 January 1994.

Entry forms for the awards, which are open to any chef or waiter under the age of 25, are available from the RAGB.
