Kassum returns to forte group

Nasir Kassum has been appointed worldwide reservations director for Forte. He rejoins the company after five months with Whitbread as director of reservations for the Country Club Hotel Group.

Mr Kassum, who in his previous time at Forte worked on the development of the Fortres II reservations system, will now be responsible for running the new system.

Mike Jones, senior vice-president, reservations and inventory management, is to leave Forte after 20 years. He will act as a consultant to the group until the Fortres II system is completed.

Pybus to head up campanile in UK

John Pybus is to take over the running of the UK office of French budget hotel chain Campanile.

Mr Pybus, previously sales manager, replaces John Bevan who moved to Paris in December to become international tourism sales director for the group.

Forte takes on two new buyers

George Arizmendi and Aivars King have joined Forte Purchasing & Supply as purchasing managers for non-food catering goods.

Mr Arizmendi was previously general manager of the Forte Crest, Bristol, while Mr Aivars was formerly senior purchasing manager at National Westminster Bank.

Carruthers moves to moorside hotel

John Carruthers, general manager of the Stakis Bristol, is to take over the running of the Stakis Moorside, near Stockport.

Stakis has bought the 96-bedroom hotel out of receivership for £2m and a further £1m will be invested in refurbishing the hotel.

Meanwhile, Jill Williams, of the Stakis Stoke-on-Trent, is joining the new Stakis Edinburgh Airport as deputy manager.

Smith appointed general manager

Nicky Smith has been appointed general manager of the Holiday Inn Garden Court at London's Brent Cross.

Ms Smith, previously food and beverage deputy manager at the Holiday Inn Mayfair, replaces Ken Mathewson, who has moved to the Holiday Inn Brussels.

Pierron to chair HITA euro project

Andrew Pierron, IT manager of Claridge's hotel in London, has been elected chairman of the new European branch of the Hospitality Information Technology Association (HITA).

The new branch has been set up to improve links between the IT industry, educationalists and users in the hospitality industry. Its official launch will be held at Claridge's on 15 May.

Davies joins jarvis newton park

Nick Davies has been appointed general manager at the Jarvis Newton Park Hotel, Burton on Trent. He previously held a similar position at Raven Hall, near Scarborough.

JOSIE PORTER to communications manager for the Cross Channel Catering Company, from Chartex International.

LOUISE COURT to front office manager at London's Chesterfield Hotel, from front office manager, Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor.

JOHN LOCKLEY to recruitment consultant at London-based Jubilee Catering Agency, from chef at Mustard Catering, also based in London.

LYN WEIMER to training manager at Virgin Hotels, from a similar position with Forte Crest.

GARY HEDGECOX to consultant for the chefs' division of Devon-based recruitment consultancy CRC, from executive chef at Devon-based Warm Welcome Hotels.

CAROL BORHANI to regional director of Angel International Recruitment, from manager of the catering division.

BASIL BLANCO to general manager of Mayfair's Dartmouth House private club, from house manager.
