Preston moves to Grosvenor house

Forte's flagship Grosvenor House Hotel in London has appointed former Catey winner Deborah Preston as its new executive house-keeper.

Mrs Preston has joined from the London Hilton on Park Lane, where she was executive housekeeper for almost three years.

It was during this time that she was named Caterer & Hotelkeeper Housekeeper of the Year.

Mrs Preston, a fellow of the HCIMA and committee member of the UK Housekeepers' Association, had previously run the housekeeping department at Grosvenor House for six years, from 1986.

She replaces Robert Lusink who has returned to his native Canada.

Gough takes over at angel hotel

Jolyon Gough, general manager of Windsor's Oakley Court for the past five years, has taken over the running of the Angel Hotel in Bury St Edmunds.

Mr Gough, who is not related to the Angel's owner, Mary Gough, is replaced at Oakley Court by Oliver Sweeney, previously general manager at London's Drury Lane Moat House.

Arcadian appoints two new chefs

Two hotels within the fast-growing Arcadian International have appointed new head chefs.

Paul Stanton, senior sous chef at the group's L'Horizon in Jersey, takes over in October from executive head chef Peter Marek, who is leaving to open his own restaurant in Florida.

At Nutfield Priory, Surrey, meanwhile, Stephen Cane, executive sous chef at Hanbury Manor, near Ware, Hertfordshire, has become head chef.

Roadchef takes tucker on board

Stephen Tucker, head of human resources at RoadChef, has been appointed to the board as personnel and training director.

In another move, Gerry McDonnell, regional internal auditor for the north, has been promoted to operations manager.

Peters makes his mark in London

Roger Peters has joined the Landmark London - formerly the Regent - as chef of the hotel's principal restaurant, The Dining Room.

Mr Peters has spent the past few months in London as executive chef at the Italian Kitchen, but before that worked in France at Jean-Paul Pignol's eponymous restaurant in Lyon. He has also worked for the Roux brothers.

Martin Gash has joined Gardner Merchant as personnel director (North), based at the company's Hitchin offices.

Mr Gash was formerly with the Granada Group as company personnel and training manager, and has previously worked for General Motors and retail chain B&Q.

Usher sets up new business venture

Stephen Usher, operations director at Ullesthorpe Court Hotel and Golf Club, Lutterworth, Leicestershire, for five years, has left to set up a hotel and conference booking agency.

RICHARD BUSWELL to general manager, Red Lion Hotel, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, from general manager, Swan Hotel, Bibury, Gloucestershire.

CLARE STARBUCK to executive housekeeper, Ramada Hotel, Manchester, from head housekeeper, Cottons Hotel, Knutsford.

BARBARA DENHAM to sales manager, Hilton National, Milton Keynes, from regional sales manager, Stakis.

MARCO PASQUALE to managing director, UK division, for hospitality recruitment group VIP International, from general manager of the Excelsior, Heathrow.

ADAM MORRISS to senior corporate sales manager, Europe, Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, from corporate sales manager, Hotel Inter-Continental, London.

ADAM GRIFFIN to director at Coverpoint Catering Consultancy, from a consultant in the company.

JAYNE LINTERN has rejoined Profile's UK chefs division as a consultant, from rival agency Portfolio.

JOHN WOOD, general manager of Alexander the Great Beach Hotel, Paphos, has become president of the Cyprus Hotel Managers Association.
