Millenium and Copthorne offers long-service perks
Millennium and Copthorne Hotels is offering long-serving employees private health insurance and is increasing their holiday entitlement in an effort to reward loyalty.
The hotel chain will carry the full costs of the health insurance scheme, which is to be introduced from 1 March. All full-time employees with over five years' service will be eligible, amounting to 450 of its 1,800-strong work-force.
And from April the current holiday entitlement of 20 days will be increased by one day for every year's service. Employees with one year's service will get 21 days' holiday, and so on up to a maximum of 25 days for those who have been with the company for five years or longer.
Laurence Watson, vice-president human resources, said the company wanted to reward long-serving employees. A straw poll of employees had shown that health cover and more holidays would be the most appreciated perks.
Millennium and Copthorne will also introduce a sharesave scheme when its holding company, CDL Hotels International, floats on the London Stock Exchange, expected to be in April. All employees with more than one year's service as at January 1996 will be eligible.
"We value our employees very highly and feel they are deserving of more rewards," said Mr Watson.
