DUNCAN SWANSON has been appointed senior personnel officer for the May Fair Inter-Continental London hotel. He joins from the Hotel Inter-Continental London where he was personnel officer.

JOHN COPE, president and managing director of the Huntington hotel in San Francisco, has been elected chairman of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. He succeeds JONATHAN SLATER, managing director of the Chester Grosvenor, who has completed his two-year term.

PHILIPPE WAGENFUHRER has taken over as executive chef of the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club in Edinburgh. He was executive sous chef at the Sheraton Grand hotel in Edinburgh.

HAZEL BILLINGTON has taken over as sales and marketing manager of the Basingstoke Country Hotel in Basingstoke, Hampshire. She was conference officer for Hampshire Borders Tourism.

ALAIN RIDLEY has left the Dubai World Trade Centre, where he was director of hospitality, to take up the post of operations manager for Sopwell House hotel in St Albans, Hertfordshire, and the Five Lakes Hotel Golf and Country Club in Maldon, Essex.

HEATHER EAGLEN has joined recruitment consultants Marshall Human Resources as a consultant specialising in contract catering. She was previously a recruitment consultant at Resource Network Compass Group UK.

MICHAEL POWNALL has joined the Hotel Le Vendôme in Cape Town, South Africa, as operations director. For four years he was deputy general manager of the Cape Sun Inter-Continental hotel in Cape Town.

PIERRE KHODJA has left his post as head chef of Oceana restaurant in London to open his own 50-seat restaurant, Zest, in Hampstead, north London. The restaurant opens at the end of May.

ROY THOMPSON has been appointed executive chef at the Radisson SAS Portman hotel in London. He was executive head chef at the Forum Inter-Continental hotel, also in London.

LAURENT BRYDNIAK has been recruited as restaurant manager of Auberge du Lac, on the Brocket Hall estate in Hertfordshire. He was restaurant manager at Brown's hotel in London.

CAROLINE ANTONIOU has joined the Angel hotel in Cardiff as sales manager. She was sales manager at the Forte Posthouse in Cardiff.

ROBERT GOLLINGS has taken up the position of head chef at the Surinam Plaza Casino in Suriname, South America. He was executive chef at the Park hotel in New Delhi, India.

JANE BISS has taken over at Greenalls Pubs and Restaurants as director of human resources. She previously held the same post with pub group Tom Cobleigh.
