Westfield, the operator of the £1.6b Westfield shopping centre in west London, is looking for tenants for a new food court at its Merry Hill retail development in the West Midlands.

The new Eat Central food court, which will launch later this year, forms part of Westfield’s plan to transform Merry Hill into a “retail, leisure and lifestyle destination”.

It will be located on the upper level of the 1.4 million sq ft development with access directly from the centre’s car park.

It will comprise 16 dining outlets made up of island pods of inline kiosks, as well as an open-plan shared eating space for up to 1,200 people. There will also be three two-storey restaurants.

Merry Hill is looking for local, regional and national operators and Alice Keown of property agent Davis Coffer Lyons, which has been instructed to lease the outlets, told Caterersearch the group was looking for mid-market brands.

“Merry Hill will be similar to Westfield Derby in terms of its food offering, which will be focused on casual dining operators,” she said.

“We’ll be looking for specific cuisines including Asian and European restaurants as well as British outlets offering pies, fish and chips and sandwiches.”
