Extramilescotland.co.uk launched to give consumers an alternative to guidebooks

A new guide purporting to offer visitors to Scotland an alternative to traditional guidebooks has launched.

Tourism website www.extramilescotland.co.uk aims to "go the extra mile" to provide consumers with word-of-mouth recommendations and give credible and frank advice about Scottish places of interest.

The website claims it will only host positive reviews that showcase establishments where owners and staff have demonstrated superior customer service.

It has been created by Gilbert Summers, writer and tourism lecturer, and his partner, Johanna Campbell, formerly of the Scottish Tourist Board and The National Trust.

Campbell said: “This website is for the consumer by the consumer. If someone in the Scottish tourism industry or in a tourism-related business is exceeding expectations then we provide the platform for delighted customers to let other people know”.
