London’s Hoxton sells business travellers rooms by the hour

London hotel the Hoxton is offering business travellers the chance to rent rooms by the hour, the latest in a series of innovative pricing schemes.

The hotel, which uses a budget airline-style pricing tariff and famously launched with £1 rooms, is offering the use of its bedrooms between 10am and 4pm on weekdays, as a way to utilise rooms during normally empty hours.

The Hoxton, owned by Sinclair Beecham, the co-founder of sandwich chain Pret A Manger, has put together a package allowing day visitors to London the ability to use the room’s facilities.

The offer includes free wireless internet access, one hour of local phone calls, free TV and use of the bed and bathroom

Earlier this year, Beecham decided to put a hold on his plans for expansion for the chain, although he still intends to roll the chain out across the UK once the economy is more stable.
