Detectives investigating the death of a 34-year-old barman at the Last Drop hotel in Bolton, Lancashire, have charged a chef with his murder.
Last Thursday (13 March) emergency services were called to the hotel, part of Macdonald Hotels, after reports of an early-morning disturbance in reception. A female guest, allegedly held captive, was injured after jumping from a bedroom window.
Roberto Borroneo Abo, of Watery Lane in Darwen, Lancashire, appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday (17 March) and was remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 24 March. He was charged with murder, assault and kidnapping.
He was arrested in woods near the village. During a search of the hotel the same morning a man's body was discovered in one of the hotel bedrooms. He had been stabbed.
A spokeswoman for Macdonald Hotels said: "This is an unfortunate and tragic incident. We extend sympathy to the dead man's family and express deep concerns for the guests and staff involved."
