The UK has some of the highest prices for beer in the world, according to pollster Datamonitor. The average price of a pint here is £1.89, compared with $1.57 (£1) in the USA.
The study, which was published to coincide with St Patrick's Day this week, found that the Irish drink the most stout per head and the Czechs the most beer, at 326 pints a head per year.
