Drinks on the House
Charlton House started a new contract this week with international drinks group Pernod Ricard UK. The renewable one-year deal, worth £90,000, is to provide a light lunch and hospitality services to 100 staff at offices in Hounslow, Middlesex. Charlton House already holds a staff catering contract with sister organisation Chivas Brothers in Hammersmith, London.
Exam passed
Scolarest has won a contract to provide meals to 4,000 pupils at six Newcastle-upon-Tyne schools. The pupils will move into new buildings over the next 18 months, as the schools are currently being rebuilt through a PFI partnership between the city council and FocusEducation, a joint venture between Bovis Lend Lease and the Bank of Scotland. The contract, worth £600,000 in annual sales, was awarded by FocusEducation, which is responsible for maintaining and managing the school buildings.
Youthful joys
Compass Group's business and industry arm, Eurest, has won a three-year contract with the Youth Hostel Association for England and Wales. The £250,000-a-year deal will see Eurest providing catering services at seven of the association's 228 hostels. Eurest will cater for 400,000 visitors a year at five central London youth hostels, and for 73,000 people a year at the YHA Oxford and YHA Cambridge premises. The caterer will employ 50 staff across the seven sites.
Hong Kong firsts
Compass division Select Service Partner has won a new contract with a total turnover of £90m at Hong Kong International Airport. It includes extensions at three existing units, plus eight new units which will be phased in over a period of time. It will run for five to seven years from April 2003. The new units include the first two Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits outlets in Hong Kong, and the province's only Burger King, Caffè Ritazza, Ajisen Ramen, Champions sports bar, Toro Bar and Seafood House, and Caf‚ Deco outlets.
