McCormick opens £1.5m Technical Innovation Centre in UK

Global herb and spice supplier http://www.schwartzforchef.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">McCormick has launched a £1.5m Technical Innovation Centre (TIC) for new product development in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire which is the first of its kind in the EMEA region.

At the core of the centre is the Create IT room for developing ideas and concepts for customised flavour and spice blends using a specialised team of consumer insight, marketing, sensory, culinary and product development professionals.

"We want to lead in innovation and deliver winning products with superior flavours, positive nutrition and value, while ensuring those products are created with local tastes and flavour preferences in mind," said Rick Gill, vice-president, EMEA technical and R&D.

"The TIC gives us the ability to invite our customers to come and work hands-on with us to deliver some great results together," added James Millward, commercial director of McCormick UK. "We are also looking forward to utilising the TIC to be able to share valuable insight with chefs and gain important feedback from them too."

The centre also incorporates modern kitchens to create and test recipes and a high-tech sensory area to evaluate products. It has been built with sustainability in mind with recycled carpeting and glass partitions, automated on/off sensors and the widespread use of natural light or low-wattage lighting.

McCormick has also developed TICs in Australia and China, and upgraded two TICs (in Australia and the USA) and four pilot technical plants in the EMEA region , including one at Littleborough in the UK.
