The team behind Polpo, Polpetto and Sputino have announced they are to open a fourth site, da Polpo, in June.

The 70-seat restaurant on Covent Garden’s Maiden Lane will be split over two levels - ground and lower-ground floor and will include two dining bars. As well as the usual tables the site will have a feature table for 10.

da Polpo will focus on fun dining with a menu that sees a new meatball section and an expanded pizzetta offer alongside favourites from Polpo and Polpetto. Group head chef Tom Oldroyd will oversee the kitchen.

Co-founder Russell Norman said: “We want da Polpo to be a refreshing dining offer in an area that is undergoing something of a revival.  da Polpo offers our trademark hospitality, a great value small-plates menu and much more flexibility.”

The group has also announced a second series of its Enoclub nights at Polpo, in conjunction with wine experts Wine Chap. The first event on 26 April will focus on wines from Veneto and Trentino, while subsequent events will look at Alto Adige, Fruili, Piemonte and Northern Italy’s weird and wonderful wines.

Norman opened Polpo in Beak Street in October 2009 with his business partner Richard Beatty. The team subsequently opened Polpetto in August 2010 and Spuntino last month.
