If you prefer something a little more stylish than a stark white air-conditioning unit to deal with rising temperatures, then Andy Thornton's new Islander ceiling fan may be worth a look. It can be used to cool down rooms in the summer, then reversed to push warm air back down during the winter. The blade design comes in four options: antique woven bamboo, antique woven bamboo oar blade, clear coated woven bamboo oar blade and the original palm leaf fan blade. Each unit has three speed settings and there is an optional light fitting.
