Care contract adds £4m turnover for Aramark
Aramark has won a new contract to supply catering services to BetterCare. The Belfast-based company owns 26 care homes, including 24 homes on the UK mainland and two in Northern Ireland. With an annual turnover of more than £4m, the new contract sees Aramark providing catering services tailored to meet the requirements of each location.
Mitie blow for Sodexho...
Mitie catering services has started a £1m-a-year-turnover contract to provide catering at the headquarters of the Construction Industry Training Board in King's Lynn, Norfolk. Mitie will cater for about 400 staff and hundreds of training delegates every day, providing breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. The contract had been held by Sodexho for 28 years.
...but it bounces back in Scotland
Sodexho Scotland has won the contract to provide catering services at the new headquarters of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. The parliament is due to move to the new building in Holyrood next year. Sodexho's deal is for three years, with an option to extend for a further two, and will turn over £1m a year. It will employ 57 catering staff. Sodexho is already providing the catering for the Scottish Parliament at its current temporary home at the Assembly Hall on the Mound.
Pride of Surrey
Guildford-based Pride Catering has started a rolling contract at the HQ of Samsung Electronics on the outskirts of Chertsey, Surrey. The deal, which will turn over £250,000 a year, sees Pride providing breakfast, a deli-bar service, lunch, snacks, vending and hospitality services for 300 employees plus visitors. Five Pride staff operate the new unit. The contract brings Pride’s portfolio up to 23 contracts and increases its annual turnover to £3m.
Adios Stopgap, hola Amigo
Compass Group is rebranding its Stopgap convenience store chain as Amigo. The new name will also be applied to other, smaller branded convenience stores in Compass's worldwide portfolio. A spokeswoman said the company was looking for a consistent global approach and a name that would be recognisable and pronounceable around the world.

Select Service Partner's Upper Crust brand has been named the UK's best En-route Sandwich Retailer at the British Sandwich Industry Awards. Winners were assessed on mystery shopper results and marketing materials submitted to the judges. Select Service Partner is part of Compass Group.
Chocolate in the park
Birmingham-based Redcliffe Catering has teamed up with confectionary giant Cadbury at the newly-opened Aviary café in Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa. The 60-seat café features "tasteful" Cadbury branding and a range of Cadbury products. Cadbury is using the venture to try out on customers products not available in the shops. Redcliffe also provides catering at the Cadbury World visitor centre in Bournville, Birmingham.
