The London Designer Outlet, the 350,000sq ft retail and leisure centre set to open in Wembley City in 2013, has signed its first group of restaurant operators.

The development, which forms part of the 87-acre redevelopment scheme around Wembley Stadium and Arena in north-west London, will include 85 retail outlets including 15 restaurants and bars, and a nine-screen Cineworld cinema.

The first three restaurant operators signed up to the London Designer Outlet are the Restaurant Group, who will open a Frankie and Benny's outpost at the centre, as well as burger chain the Handmade Burger Co and "multi cuisine" dining concept Jimmy Spice's second London restaurant.

Phil Cottingham, managing director of retail at Quintain, the developer of the London Designer Outlet, commented: "I am thrilled to announce this exciting line-up of cosmopolitan restaurants. We have intentionally targeted leisure operators in the first phase of the lettings strategy as part of our overall aim to deliver a mixed-use retail, restaurant and entertainment lifestyle destination."

Paul Hitchcott, property director of the Restaurant Group, said he was delighted Frankie & Benny's was the first restaurant signing for London Designer Outlet. "With its proximity to the National Stadium and Arena, it promises to be one of the capital's most exciting new retail, leisure and entertainment quarters," he said.

Parminder Uppal, head of acquisitions at Jimmy Spice's, added: "This will be our 10th restaurant and the first time we have signed as part of a major new mixed-use development."

The London Designer Outlet will be the only designer retail outlet within the M25. Construction will start this coming autumn, with the opening scheduled for autumn 2013.
