Peebles licensee buys Nairn hotel

Westerlea hotel

Andrew McLaughlin is the new owner of the Westerlea hotel in the seaside resort of Nairn in the Scottish Highlands.

McLaughlin, a licensee from Peebles in the Highlands, bought the hotel off an asking price of more than £450,000.

The town hotel, which is set in two-thirds of an acre of gardens, is on the western edge of Nairn along the main A96 Inverness-to-Aberdeen road.

It’s a traditional stone villa with contemporary extensions that offers six bedrooms to sleep 13 (five of the rooms with en-suite bathrooms), a 35-seat lounge bar, a 15-seat bar lounge with pool table, and a 12-seat dining room.

The hotel also provides a private bedroom, living room and shower room on the first floor.

The Edinburgh office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the hotel on behalf of Stan and Karen Brown who have owned the business for 25 years
