Amanda Ursell joins Charlton House as consultant

Monday 19 July 2010 16:02

Staff catering firm Charlton House has announced the appointment of nutritionist and award-winning journalist Amanda Ursell to act as a consultant to support its drive to improve health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Ursell, a columnist with The Times, will work with the caterer to maximise its customers' health following the relaunch of its dedicated website on healthy eating in the workplace: www.wellbeingbeingwell.co.uk.

Caroline Fry, managing director of Charlton House, has been the driver behind the initiative. She said: "As a high profile nutritionist and trained dietician, Ursell's input will take the work we have done to date to a new level and keep the focus clearly on the health of our customers".

Ursell added: "Charlton House feeds approximately 40,000 people a day nationwide so this offers me an unprecedented opportunity to target key messages about how simple changes to the diet can have a profound effect on one's mood, work performance, health and wellbeing.

"Great food and great nutrition should go hand-in-hand and can and should be offered in the working environment."

The 'Well Being, Being Well' programme features a highly nutritional ingredient of the week on menus throughout the company's restaurants nationwide. The initiative is supported by the dedicated website, which gives the health-enhancing properties of the foods featured.

In addition David Cavalier, the group's Michelin-starred food director, has created a series of recipes incorporating the "ingredient of the week" for customers to make at home.

Ursell will also work closely with Lusso, CH&Co's fine dining staff catering brand for clients in the City.
