Seafood industry body Seafish has launched the 2007 National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Customers have until 21 July to nominate their favourite chippies and the top five shops will be visited by mystery judges who are looking for high standards of quality, customer service, innovation and food hygiene.
For the first time in the history of the competition, entrants will this year also be judged on their commitment to building a sustainable future of the industry.
Seafish project manager Andy Gray said: “The public is becoming increasingly aware of the sources of the seafood they eat and shops must take this into account if they want to run a successful business.”
