Classic Country Pubs seeks second Farm

The Farm in Solihull

Catey Pub and Bar Award winner Paul Salisbury is looking for a second site for the Farm, his latest offering from Classic Country Pubs, after the Farm in Solihull hit a turnover of £45,000 a week since opening in August.

The Solihull pub, leased from Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) under its franchise division, opened at a site previously turning over just £3,000 a week.

Salisbury described it as a pub that does "traditional rustic dishes in a stunning, rugged environment comfortably seating around 90 people".

"Looking at the economic conditions, we needed something that was a bit more accessible and did not necessarily target affluent areas," said Salisbury. "We are offering good-value food, where customers feel like they are getting something for nothing with our free salad bar."

Similar to M&B's Harvester, the Farm also offers discounted early-evening dining to augment its evening service of traditional British dishes alongside modern European concepts. It also caters for the late-night market with a late licence on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

As for expanding the concept, Salisbury said: "We are looking now to do it. Some of those community pubs in the right areas would be perfect for it."
