Wayne Curtis and Angela McGowan from Knottingly have bought the Stanley Arms hotel in the Cumbrian village of Calderbridge, near Whitehaven.
The riverside residential freehouse is a 200-year-old former coaching inn with a prominent position on the main A595 road connecting Whitehaven to Barrow, Kendal and the M6.
It lies in the western part of the Lake District National Park near Ennerdale Water, Wastwater and the Sellafield complex.
The Stanley Arms has 12 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 24, a bar with a panelled chimney and full-width serving bar, a bar-lounge, a games area and a 30-seat restaurant with beamed ceilings.
Other facilities include a two-bedroom, self-contained flat for the owners and an extensive lawned beer garden that reaches the banks of the River Calder, where the property holds fishing rights.
The Manchester office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold off an asking price of around £455,000 on behalf of Eric and Jane Smith.
