Floyd calls in the receivers

The Maltsters Arms, the public house and restaurant owned by television chef Keith Floyd, went into receivership this week with debts of £500,000.

The business, also known as Floyd's Inn (Sometimes), which is at Tuckenhay, near Totnes, Devon, is still trading while receivers Grant Thornton look for a buyer for the business, which is thought to be worth £1m.

Joint administrative receiver, Duncan Swift, said: "The company failed principally because of trading losses incurred during the development phase of the business."

Mr Swift has not ruled out the possibility of reducing the scope of the business operation and 15-strong work-force.
