Upright frozen food storage
Few caterers get by without holding some supplies in frozen form. Chest freezers are, litre for litre, the cheapest way of storing frozen food in bulk but access to stock via the upward opening hinged tends to mean less efficient stock rotation.
By comparison, the vertical shape of upright freezers - identically sized to standard refrigerators but set to store goods at below -18¼C maximises available height and makes it a lot easier to keep stock sorted.
Cabinets can also be banked neatly alongside a matching fridge if desired. Some upright freezers can be supplied with interior illumination and glass doors for display of ice cream and other items.
Counter or table style freezers provide access to stock via doors or drawers, or a combination of the two. They are expensive compared with chest of upright freezers but may be useful where kitchen space is tight and/or storage of frozen stock is needed immediately adjacent to the point of use.
The horizontal format and convenient working height of each cabinet enables either preparation/assembly or cooking processes (such as griddling or toasting) to be carried on a suitably insulated top over the freezer.
Where a lot of frozen goods need storing, freezer rooms can be supplied prefabricated or assembled in situ and provide convenient walk-in access.
