Bamsey's back
John Bamsey, who was left without a job three months ago following a management reshuffle at Le Méridien, has joined Six Continents. Bamsey, former regional managing director of Le Méridien UK and Ireland, started at the company this week as area president of Europe. He is responsible for the management of its 170 managed, owned and leased hotels and reports to David Bland, managing director of its Europe, Middle East and Africa divisions. He lost his job in July after Tony Troy, former managing director of Principal Hotels, was promoted to regional managing director UK and Ireland of Nomura's Le Méridien and Principal chains. Bamsey joined Le Méridien in October 1999, when it was owned by the Forte Hotel Group, and before that was managing director of Hilton International. A Six Continents spokesman said: "He has a depth of expertise in the hospitality business and we are delighted to have him on board." Bamsey was unavailable for comment. Six Continents has more than 3,200 hotels worldwide, with more than 510,000 bedrooms in nearly 100 countries and territories. Its chains are: Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Express by Holiday Inn and the US-based Staybridge Suites. by [Louise Bozec
