Ex-Army man Rossiter named new HCIMA chief
A colonel and former head of the Army School of Catering has been named as the new chief executive of the HCIMA.
Philippe Rossiter, a member of the defence staff at the British Embassy in Paris since last year, takes on his new role in September from acting joint chief executives Ann Corrigan and Rosemary Morrison.
They have shared the job since former incumbent David Wood left at Easter to become the first chief executive of the British Assocation of Hospitality Accountants.
Rossiter, an active HCIMA member for more than 20 years, took command of the Army School of Catering in 1994 where he developed the army's first Modern Apprenticeship programme. He has extensive experience in industry management and hospitality education, as well as in forging links between related associations.
"He has the ability to raise our profile across the spectrum of the hospitality industry - both in the UK and internationally," said HCIMA president Alistair Telfer.
"He is also well positioned to bring to the attention of Government the need to raise professional standards in our industry."
"I am looking forward to working in a collaborative manner with our numerous partner organisations, such as the HtF (Hospitality Training Foundation) and the BHA (British Hospitality Association)," said Rossiter.
"Only in this way will we be able to provide a strong, co-ordinated and uniform industry voice to meet the economic and political challenges which lie ahead."
