The group has added the 52-bedroom Humber Royal hotel in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, and the 95-bedroom Humber Crown hotel in Hull, East Yorkshire, to its portfolio of 12 hotels.

Both hotels have large conference facilities. The Humber Royal has a function room that can hold 300 people and another smaller function room with space for up to 100. The Humber Crown has one 100-capacity function room and two with seating for 50 people each.

The hotels were both owned by ex-miner Gordon Shepherd who bought them in 2000 for about £3m. He is retiring.

The hotels have been renamed as the Hotel Elizabeth Grimsby and Hotel Elizabeth Hull.

Christie & Co was the agent.
