Diners win prizes as we mark our first anniversary
It's still damn hot out here, but it's starting to get a little better. And this is an exciting time at the Dubai Creek - we are celebrating our first anniversary.
We have got some great promotions going on. If you dine at any of the outlets, you get put in a big draw for a round-the-world trip paid for by Hilton. You start in Dubai then travel to London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong - not bad, eh? I'm still trying to find a way to rig it for myself! Also, if you dine in Verre and leave your business card, it goes into a raffle for a trip to London - flying with British Airways World Traveller Plus for a three-night stay at the Trafalgar hotel with dinner at one of Gordon's restaurants.
The new menu in Verre that Gordon and I were working on a while back in the UK has been a huge success. We slightly changed the format of the menu in the Glasshouse. With this being a small hotel, the Glasshouse outlet had to be more user-friendly to the in-house guest. We have now extended the menu to some 46 dishes, ranging from the very best Caesar salad to the best steak or lobster and chips.
We have some more complex dishes but we really wanted to establish a difference in identity between the Glasshouse and Verre restaurants. We have now laid a carpet down in Verre, which has totally transformed the room. It has made it more intimate and it looks quite stunning.
The Hilton Dubai Creek team have been working really hard to make our anniversary a big success. None more so than Markus Schueller, our food and beverage manager.
I would just like to take this chance to wish all the best and all the luck in the world to Angela Hartnett in her big opening at the Connaught. So everyone support her and go and eat some fantastic food, because knowing how good a cook Angela is and how educated her palate is, I expect you will find it difficult to get a table. Bye for now, I'm off to the beach.
