Airline catering down to earth(14 August 2003 14:17)Airline catering could take on a new character if plans by an Indian restaurateur get off the ground - he hopes to open a restaurant in a decommissioned British Airways Boeing 747.
Salik Miah, who owns the Rajmoni restaurant in Brent, Middlesex, is a partner in 39 other Indian restaurants across London, Essex and Middlesex. He commented: "We have seen restaurants created from boats and trains, so why not a plane?" The aircraft, which used to seat 480 passengers, is resting at the Manston airfield in Kent. Miah is currently seeking a suitable site on which to park the plane-restaurant. Source: CatererSearch |
