De Savary buys Devon pub

Entrepreneur Peter de Savary has snapped up a 500-year-old thatched pub in Devon to complement his purchase of Bovey Castle in the county.

The grade II-listed Sandy Park Inn at Chagford, on Dartmoor National Park, was on the market at £340,000 and was bought for a figure "very near" the asking price, said agent Bettesworths.

De Savary also owns, through Bovey Castle, the seven-bedroom White Hart Hotel in Moretonhampstead, also on Dartmoor National Park.
