Top-selling Italian pasta brand Barilla has added a new pasta sauce to its Barilla Chef range. Barilla Pesto alla Genovese pasta sauce is made with basil, pine nuts, Pecorino Romano cheese, extra virgin olive oil and garlic, and, Barilla claims, is free from artificial thickeners, preservatives and additives. It can be used as a stand-alone sauce or as a base for further sauces. The sauce comes in 360g jars packed in sixes in thermo-filmed cardboard, which gives the sauces a shelf life of 18 months at room temperature.
