Furlong bids for Home House

Furlong Hotels has confirmed that it is in discussions to take over Mayfair private members' club Home House. The group is understood to have bid about £15m for the club.

Haydn Fentum, executive director of Furlong, said: "Furlong Group can confirm that it is in discussions with Home House. Should anything come of these discussions, Furlong would be looking to maintain and develop one of London's leading members' clubs."

He added: "Furlong would under no circumstances be turning it into a hotel."

Stephen Winston, managing director of Berkeley Adam, the club's holding company, would neither confirm nor deny the discussions.
