On the move

Oriel Leisure, operator of eight Express by Holiday Inn hotels, has made two senior appointments. Nicholas Bloom joins as sales director for the company's serviced apartments, and Tim Wheeldon becomes development consultant. Bloom was a partner at serviced apartment company Euracom, while Wheeldon worked for Golden Tulip as property director.

Terry Waldon has joined contract caterer Aramark as sales and marketing director. She previously worked for Williams Lea, a business process outsourcing company, as group marketing director.

Elaine Haynes has been appointed head of media relations for Hilton Group. She has moved from the role of communications director at Hilton's health club division, LivingWell.

Hartwell House hotel in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, has welcomed Carol Shearman as sales and marketing manager. She joins the hotel, which is part of the Historic Hotels Group, from Danesfield House Hotel and Spa in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, where she was in charge of sales and marketing.

The Carlton Tower hotel in London's Knightsbridge has chosen Donato Russo to head up the kitchen in its Rib Room and Oyster Bar restaurant. He joins from sister restaurant Grissini, where he was also head chef.

Island restaurant and bar, which launches in London this September overlooking Hyde Park, has selected Leigh Diggins as its head chef. He joins the team from Sonny's Restaurant Group, where he was group executive chef. Scott Grant joins the new venture as general manager. He was previously general manager at the Canyon restaurant in Richmond, Surrey.

Hopkinson Catering has bolstered its management team with a couple of new appointments. Andrew Eagles joins the company as operations director for London from Autograph Foodservice, where he was operations manager. Jodi Fry is Hopkinson's new group operations manager and will look after the £2.4m group contract at Elizabeth Finn Trust.

The Marriott hotel in Liverpool city centre is to get a new general manager. Hayley Chilver will move from the Ipswich Courtyard by Marriott hotel to fill the role.


Move of the week
The Gore hotel in London's Kensington has appointed Alexander McEwan as general manager. He joins from the hotel's sister property, the Rookery, which is also in London. McEwan previously worked as general manager of Blooms Town House hotel in Bloomsbury, London, and has completed a five-year management training course with the Savoy Group.
