On the move(13 September 2004 16:04)David Maskell has been made head chef at the Il Palazzo hotel in Tuscany. It is hoped his appointment will bring a top rating to the I Secoli restaurant, which blends fresh Italian products with a contemporary international approach. Maskell previously worked alongside Andrew Hamer at Gleneagles, Auchterarder, and Paul Kitching at Juniper, Altrincham.
Jurgen Sutherland has become area general manager, London central, for Thistle Hotels, and will be based at the group's Royal Horseguards hotel in London. He was previously general manager of the Metropolitan Palace hotel in Dubai. The privately owned Meldrum House Hotel, Golf and Country Estate, in Old Meldrum, Aberdeenshire, has appointed Sylvia Simpson its new manager. She has 15 years' experience with Macdonald Hotels, having managed its Thainstone House and Pittodrie House hotels, both in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. Article continues below
Philipp Mosimann has been named the new deputy chief executive of Mövenpick Full-Service Gastronomy. He previously worked at the Equinox hotel in Singapore, and last year received Raffles International's F&B Manager of the Year award. Golden Tulip UK has appointed husband-and-wife team Hrein and Marie Agustsson to its Tulip Inn in Glasgow. The couple, who will take up positions as deputy general manager and front office manager respectively, previously worked in similar capacities at the Patio hotel in Clydebank, Dunbartonshire. Sheffield native Tracy Tennant is returning home now that Corus Hotels has made her general manager of the 50-bedroom Beauchief hotel in the South Yorkshire city. Tennant has worked for Corus for three years, having previously been resident manager at the Imperial Crown hotel in Halifax and general manager of the Crown hotel in Harrogate. Pascal Desmet has left the Radisson SAS hotel in Letterkenny, County Donegal, where he was executive chef, to become executive chef at the new Radisson SAS Hotel Belfast, which is due to open this month. The Atlantic hotel in Jersey has appointed Mark Jordan head chef. He joins from Gilpin Lodge in the Lake District, where he was also head chef. Julia Clark has been named general manager of Drakes, a new 20-bedroom hotel on Brighton's seafront. Clark was previously bar and catering manager at the city's Komedia live performance venue. Move of the week Rocco Forte Hotels has selected Francesca Gori as sales and marketing director for Brown's hotel in London. She joins the hotel, which is undergoing a £16m refurbishment, having previously acted as London sales director for the company.
