Bains: planning a £250,000 refit

Bains hopes to sign a 15-year lease for the Michelin starred Restaurant Sat Bains within the next few days and start work on a £250,000 refurbishment.

The 40-seat site is currently owned by Terry Doak, who bought the Hotel des Clos for £1m four weeks ago. The restaurant, which is being sold for an undisclosed sum, will reopen in early December as a separate business.

Bains said: "I want to give the restaurant a ‘wow' factor. It will go from having a cottagey feel to somewhere sexy and timeless."

One ingredient of his vision is the "kitchen table", which diners can hire for £800 and watch their 12 courses being prepared.
