HMA announces award-winners

Best Western scooped two awards last night at the 11th annual Hotel Marketing Awards, held at the Savoy hotel in London.

The hotel consortium won "Best Marketing Activity on a Small Budget" for its loyalty e-mail campaign and triumphed in the "Best Use of Technology in Marketing" category for its online "brochure builder" drive.

Pamela Carvell, chairman of the Hotel Marketing Association, said: "Some of the categories were quite a challenge to judge this year. It is good to see the industry becoming increasingly professional in its approach to hotel marketing."

Brewer and hotel operator Adnams won the hotly-contested "Best Hotel Brochure".

Other winners included Ramada Jarvis, which won "Best Leisure Marketing Activity", and Hilton, which picked up the trophy for "Best Fully Integrated Marketing Campaign".

With no outstanding candidate in the "Best Public Relations Activity" category, Radisson Edwardian received a commendation for its "Free Trade Hall" campaign in Manchester.
