Ramsay dishes up a £4m profit for 2004(13 January 2005 14:05)Gordon Ramsay Holdings served up pre-tax profits of £3.8m last year compared with a £1m loss in 2003. Turnover in the 12 months to 31 August grew by nearly £10m, from £21.2m to £30.95m.
The figures cover Ramsay’s seven London restaurants – including those run by his two chef-patron protégés Angela Hartnett and Marcus Wareing – which hold seven Michelin stars between them. They do not include the Verre restaurant at the Dubai Hilton, where Ramsay operates as executive consultant chef. The biggest contribution came from the Michelin-starred Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s restaurant, which more than doubled its pre-tax profits to £1.4m. Article continues below
Ramsay’s UK empire also includes his eponymous three Michelin-star restaurant in Chelsea, the Boxwood Café at the Berkeley Hotel, Angela Hartnett’s Michelin-starred Menu restaurant at the Connaught hotel and three venues run by Marcus Wareing – Petrus at the Berkeley hotel, the Savoy Grill (each with one Michelin star) and the Banquette at the Savoy Grill. Ramsay has two new openings planned for this year – Maze at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square hotel, and a yet-to-be-named restaurant at the new Conrad hotel near Ginza in Tokyo.
