The Sloop Inn at Haywards Heath, West Sussex, has appointed Laura Smith as head chef and Laurence Everest as sous chef. Smith was a joint partner at outside caterers Manna from Heaven and Everest was a chef at the Watermill pub and restaurant at Burgess Hill.

Radisson SAS has created the new role of director of sales, meetings and events at its London Stansted airport hotel and has appointed Robert Eveleigh, who was account director, meetings and events, with Thistle Hotels.

Lee Darwen has been made general manager at the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port-Cheshire Oaks, Merseyside. He was operations manager at Holiday Inn Lime Street, which is also owned by Centre Island Hotels. Jonathan King has moved from Holiday Inn Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, to join the City Centre-owned Holiday Inn Preston, Lancashire.

Ray Brown has been promoted to operations chef at Malmaison Birmingham, where he was head chef. Sous chef Nigel Grantham and junior sous chef Russell Healy have been promoted to head chef and senior sous, respectively, at the hotel.

John Seeger has joined the Copthorne hotel Plymouth, Devon, as general manager. He returns to the UK from the West Indies, where he was general manager of a hotel in Grenada.

Golden Tulip UK has appointed Claire Summers sales manager of the £5.5m Tulip Inn Leeds Castleford hotel, which opens in March. She moves from hotel reservation company Excel Hotels, where she was a consultant working on design and development.

Tamarind Catering and Events, the private arm of the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, has chosen Manjushree Maniyar as events co-ordinator. She was senior business centre co-ordinator at the Hilton London Metropole hotel.

Peter Shrigley has left his job as Radisson SAS director of conference sales - Manchester Airport, Leeds and London Stansted Airport to become director of revenue and sales at Manchester's Midland hotel.

Chester Crabwall Manor hotel at Mollington, near Chester, has welcomed Darren Townsend as general manager. He moves to the Marston-owned hotel from Four Pillars Hotels, where he was general manager at Tortworth Court hotel.n
