Huntley is named new GM at Savoy

Canadian hotel group Fairmont has appointed Mark Huntley, currently general manager of the Fairmont San Francisco, as new boss of London's Savoy. He will assume his role as general manager on 20 February, overseeing a £28m refurbishment at the 263-bedroom hotel.

Fairmont has signed a 50-year management contract for the property, which was acquired by Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal last month.

Huntley will also be regional vice-president for Europe, and will oversee the development of the 619-bedroom Monte Carlo Grand hotel in Monaco, which Fairmont bought with bin Talal and Bank of Scotland Corporate in December.
