Oktoberfest hits the million mark

More than one million pints of beer were guzzled during JD Wetherspoon's two-week-long Oktoberfest earlier this month.

The festival, which took its name from the world-famous event in Munich, featured beers from abroad as well as a choice from 50 regional brewers and microbreweries.

The beers on sale included Budels Parel from Holland, Kelham Island Pale Rider (Champion Beer of Britain 2004 at the Great British Beer Festival), Nethergate Old Growler (Champion Winter Ale of Britain 2003), Jennings Cross Buttock, Camerons Old Tom and St Georgen Brau Keller Bier from Germany.
