Plumed Horse owner named Scottish Chef of the Year(10 May 2005 10:50)Tony Borthwick, chef-proprietor of the Plumed Horse in Dumfries & Galloway, is the overall winner of the 9th annual Scottish Chef Awards. Borthwick, who has run the Michelin-star Plumed Horse in Crossmichael since 1998, picked up his Scottish Chef of the Year award on Sunday (8 May) at a gala dinner at the Radisson hotel, Glasgow. Glasgow chefs scooped three of the awards, while Edinburgh accounted for another two. Organiser Brian Hannan said this year’s results highlighted the coming-of-age of restaurants in shopping centres (Etain and Harvey Nichol’s Forth Floor) and the resurgence of women chefs on the winner’s podium (Clare Mansfield and Clare McKie).
