Savoy stays tight-lipped amid rumours of Fuchs suspension

The Savoy's executive chef, Georg Fuchs is thought to have been suspended from his position, Caterer learned this week.

Austrian-born Fuchs has been matre chef des cuisines at London's Savoy hotel since taking over from Anton Edelmann in September 2003. The reason for his suspension is still unknown.

Fuchs was responsible for the Thames foyer, banqueting, private dining and room service.

The Savoy's owner, Fairmont, is due to announce details of the 40m hotel refurbishment, which includes the food and beverage operations, imminently.

Fairmont said all staff matters were confidential and declined to comment further.

Fuchs had previously worked at the Langham Hilton as executive chef and was also unavailable for comment.
