First impression: how the £30m, four-star hotel in Manchester will look
Scottish hotel company City Inn has announced plans to open its first hotel in Manchester. The group will start building work on the £30m, four-star hotel in January with opening scheduled for August 2006. City Inn Manchester will be the group's fifth property, and will occupy a site at the new Piccadilly Place development. The hotel will have 284 bedrooms, including six suites, plus a lounge bar, a 120-cover City Caf‚ and a Sky Lounge with panoramic views of the city. It will boost the company's bedroom stock to more than 1,300. Sandy Orr, executive chairman and co-founder of City Inn, said: "This location was well worth waiting for. Manchester is a vibrant, modern place and this is exactly what each City Inn aims to be." Manchester welcomed its newest operational hotel this week with the opening of the five-star Radisson Edwardian on Monday. The £50m, 263-bedroom hotel is the group's first outside London and is built on the site of the historic Free Trade Hall.
